Get ready for one of the biggest wine and food events on the Central Coast of California, because the 20th annual
Winemakers’ Cookoff
is set to take place on Saturday, August 11 at the Paso Robles Event Center.
The event attracts food and wine lovers from all over the country, and with the wineries vying for the Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice Awards, visitors get to sample award-winning wines and beers along with some simply incredible food pairings. There’ll also be great live music by Julie Beaver and the Bad Dogs.
Tickets are $85 per person ($45 for designated drivers) and include a commemorative wine glass. You must be 21 years old to attend.
Nestled between Monterey and Santa Barbara, and just inland from Hearst Castle,
Paso Robles
is home to the third largest wine region in California and is one of the fastest growing wine regions in the state. Close to the mountains and the beach, the area provides something special for everyone who visits.
Paso Robles is a very fitting location for the cook off. The city is home to an impressive array of world-class chefs who have created a colorful culinary scene. Known for incredible local ingredients and innovative fare, Paso Roble’s selection of restaurants and eateries rival those of any big city.
The city is also winemaking frontier, where courageous wine exploration is the mantra of the local winemakers. The “Templeton Gap,” a notch in the coastal Santa Lucia mountain range, allows marine air to cascade inland and across the vineyard, providing a unique cooling influence that accounts for the complexity of the local wines.
Looking for a great place to chill out after the cook off? Then book a room at the
BEST WESTERN PLUS Black Oak Hotel
. Family-owned and operated since 1961, this beautifully landscaped property features a variety of well-appointed rooms and suites, along with an onsite restaurant, heated pool, sauna, hot tub and fitness center.
