Calling all foodies! Did you know that Paso Robles has a grilled cheese festival? Well, it does and it’s on now until June 30th.
The San Luis Obispo Grilled Cheese Festival is one of the best foodie festivals that Paso Robles has to offer. During this year’s event, which is hosted by Restorative Partners, participating restaurants are offering up their best, most innovative grilled cheese sandwiches.
The festival encourages the public to visit as many participating restaurants as possible and share their experiences on social media with the hashtag #SLOGrilledCheeseFest.
In addition, the SLO Grilled Cheese Festival brings patrons like you into the centre of the action, giving you the chance to vote for your favorite grilled cheese across three categories: Best SLO Grilled Cheese, Most Ooey Gooey Grilled Cheese, and Best Twisted Grilled Cheese.
There are five participating restaurants in Paso Robles alone, and they are The Vreamery (offering up a vegan grilled cheese), Joe’s Place, the Red Scooter Deli, Vic’s Café, and Street Side Ale House. However, if you’re willing to venture farther, you can find participating restaurants in nearby Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Los Osos, Cambria, and Cayucos.
Some of our favorite entries in this year’s competition include Vic’s Café’s grilled cheese with optional ham, bacon, and tomato, the classic grilled cheese on Texas toast from Joe’s Place, and Street Side Ale House’s mushroom and bacon grilled cheese.
Other popular contenders this year, especially in the “Twisted” category, are Morro Bay Butcher & Deli’s braised beef grilled cheese and Hidden Kitchen’s waffle grilled cheese, which features a blue corn waffle topped with havarti cheese, pepper jack cheese, caramelized onion, avocado, and microgreens.
