Independence Day is a pretty special occasion here in Paso Robles. In fact, you could say that things go off with a big bang.

This year, all the action is taking place on July 1 – the day the annual Paderewski Festival celebrates Independence Day with its winning blend of food, wine, live music and – of course – fireworks.

Taking place at Horse Park, the magnificent ‘Paso Pops’ event sees the San Luis Obispo Symphony paired with Youth Symphony members to perform a 90-minute patriotic ‘Pops’ program that culminates with a fabulous fireworks finale.

The gates open at 4pm and there’s a wine-tasting featuring 40 local wineries planned for 5pm to 7.30pm. There’ll also be plenty of interactive arts, games and painting activities on offer for young families to enjoy.

So take along a picnic or sample the goodies on offer from a variety of the county’s finest caterers and food trucks as you get into the spirit, wave your flag and enjoy some truly inspirational music. There really is no better way to celebrate Independence Day in California.

Tickets are on sale now and start at $20 for General Patriot Mall admission. For active and retired military with ID, students with ID, and seniors over 60, General Patriot Mall tickets are $15, and up to two children 12 and under are free with paid General Patriot Mall admission.

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Black Oak Hotel is a perfect option for a musical Independence Day getaway this summer. Family-owned and operated since 1961, this beautifully-landscaped property features a variety of well-appointed rooms and suites, along with an onsite restaurant, heated pool, sauna, hot tub and fitness center. The hotel has earned a stellar rating from Trip Advisor, so you can rest assured that your comfort is a priority.
